Two Magic Kingdom Attractions Closing This Autumn

The Walt Disney World Railroad will be closed for refurbishment from September 28 through October 29, 2026, with the final ride day on September 27 and reopening set for October 30. Disney has not specified what work is being carried out.

The train has been running in reduced form for a while. Its route was drastically shortened in 2025 to accommodate construction on the west side of the park for Piston Peak National Park and Villains Land, so instead of a full loop with stops at Main Street, Frontierland and Fantasyland, trains now shuttle between Main Street and Fantasyland with an audio story starring Stitch. That change came less than three years after the Railroad's four-year closure for TRON Lightcycle / Run construction, meaning it will have been either closed or running a shortened route for most of a decade by the time Villains Land opens.

The second closure affects a far newer ride. Tiana's Bayou Adventure closes on November 2, 2026, with no reopening date announced and the final ride day on November 1. The attraction opened in June 2024 as the replacement for Splash Mountain, making this its first major refurbishment. Its two gift shops, Tiana's Bayou General and Critter Co-Op, close on the same day, and Disney has not detailed the scope of the work-
