As of Monday, September 21, 2026, the single rider queue at Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is gone. The change is permanent: signage is being removed and online listings updated.

The reasoning

Disney points to a test of a new loading process that improved efficiency in the standby queue. With that in place, a dedicated single rider line is no longer needed to meet operational goals.

On the purpose of single rider queues, the company explains that they exist to fill remaining seats in ride vehicles not taken through standby or Lightning Lane. Remove that surplus, and the purpose goes with it.

Where single rider remains

Five Walt Disney World attractions keep the offering:

  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure – EPCOT
  • Test Track – EPCOT
Disney has stated explicitly that there are no plans to remove single rider from any other attraction at this time.

What it means in practice

For solo travellers and couples willing to ride apart, Expedition Everest was one of the most reliable time savers at Animal Kingdom – its single rider line routinely ran well below the posted standby wait.

Whether the revised loading process genuinely offsets that will only become clear after a few weeks of normal operation. The explicit assurance that no further removals are planned likely responds to the fact that single rider offerings have quietly disappeared elsewhere over the years.
